ABSTRACT

Objective: To evaluate HPV prevalence and type distribution in Chinese juvenile-onset recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (JoRRP) patients. Methods: We searched China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang data, China Biology Medicine disc, PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Library for studies assessing HPV infection of Chinese JoRRP patients up to 1 October, 2022. Two authors independently performed literature selection, data extraction, and quality assessment. HPV prevalence and HPV type-specific prevalence were pooled using a random effects model after Freeman-Tukey double arcsine transformation. All analyses were performed with R 4.1.3 software. Results: Nineteen publications investigating HPV infection of JoRRP patients were included in the final analyses. Of these, 16 studies reported HPV prevalence with a sample size of 1 528 patients, and 11 studies reported HPV6 prevalence and HPV11 prevalence with a sample size of 611 patients. All studies were graded as medium quality. In Chinese JoRRP patients, the synthesized HPV prevalence was 92.0% (95%CI:86.0%-96.6%, I2=87%), HPV6 prevalence was 42.4% (95%CI:34.9%-50.1%, I2=61%), and HPV11 prevalence was 72.3% (95%CI:59.0%-83.9%, I2=87%). All the pooled prevalence persisted in subgroup analyses stratified by publication year, sample size, and specimen type (P>0.05). There was no evidence of publication bias. In Chinese JoRRP patients, HPV16, 18, 31, 33, 52, and 58 prevalence was very low. Conclusions: Our findings suggested high HPV prevalence in Chinese JoRRP patients, and the most common HPV types were HPV6 and HPV11.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To analyze the influenza vaccination trend of hospitalized elderly people (≥ 60 years old) in Beijing from 2013 to 2019.@*METHODS@#The influenza vaccination status and hospitalization information of elderly people were extracted from the Beijing Elderly Influenza Vaccination database (2013-2019) and the Beijing Urban Employee Basic Medical Insurance database (2013-2019), se-parately. The influenza vaccine coverage rates and annual percentage change were calculated to compare the vaccination trends of elderly people hospitalized due to different diseases. The subjects in 2018-2019 influenza season were divided into different groups according to demographic status, health conditions and hospitalization outcomes to describe and compare the distribution of influenza vaccination rates.@*RESULTS@#The influenza vaccine coverage rates among the elderly people hospitalized due to cardiovascular diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, respiratory diseases or diabetes mellitus were 14.6%, 13.4%, 13.4% and 11.8%, respectively. The influenza vaccination rate among those hospitalized for cardiovascular diseases remained the highest across six influenza seasons and those hospitalized for diabetes mellitus remained the lowest. The largest annual decline of influenza vaccine coverage rate was observed among the hospitalized elderly due to diabetes mellitus (-7.85%). The distribution of vaccinated population was significantly associated with age, gender, hospitalization outcome and comorbidities among the hospitalized elderly people with specific diseases in 2018-2019. Among the elderly people hospitalized due to four different diseases, the vaccination rate of the patients aged 70-79 years was higher than that of the other age groups and that of the patients aged 60-69 years was the lowest. Among the elderly people hospitalized due to respiratory diseases, the vaccination rate of men was higher than that of women, while the situation reversed among the elderly people hospitalized due to cardiovascular diseases and diabetes mellitus. Vaccination rates decreased among the older adults with poor hospitalization outcomes. Among the elderly people hospitalized due to diabetes mellitus, those with 0 comorbidity had the lowest vaccination rate (7.9%).@*CONCLUSION@#The trend of influenza vaccine coverage rates among the elderly people in Beijing from 2013 to 2019 was downward. We should pay more attention to influenza vaccination in elderly people with diabetes mellitus and aged 60-69 years, and carry out more research on the protective effects of influenza vaccine to promote influenza vaccine coverage among people with chronic diseases.

ABSTRACT

Terpenes are the largest group of natural products and contain the widest assortment of structural types. Terpene cyclization is also the most complex reaction found in nature. For a long time, terpenoids with diverse structures have attracted natural product chemists to explore their biosynthesis mechanism. Such a large number of terpene skeletons are catalyzed by enzymes called terpene synthase. Sesquiterpene synthase is a kind of terpene synthase, which can catalyze the cyclization of linear precursor farnesyl pyrophosphate(FPP) to sesquiterpene skeletons. Sesquiterpene synthase cyclize a single precursor FPP into many sesquiterpene skeletons. With the continuous discovery of sesquiterpene synthase, the cyclization mechanism of sesquiterpene synthase has been studied deeply. In recent years, with the development and improvement of isotope labeling of substrate FPP and structural analysis of sesquiterpene synthase, the structure and cyclization mechanism of sesquiterpene synthase have been studied more systematically and accurately. In this review, we reviewed the progress of the research methods on the mechanism of sesquiterpene cyclization by substrate isotope labeling and protein structure, as well as the summary and prospect of sesquiterpene synthase research.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To study on the antitumor mechanism of artesunate in the treatment of liver cancer based on gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Method: CellTiter-Glo® Luminescent Cell Viability Assay was used to detect activity of artesunate with different concentrations (0, 12.5, 25, 50, 100 μmol·L-1) on human liver cancer Huh7, SMMC-7721 cells for 24, 48, 72 h. GC-MS was employed to analyze the changes of metabolites of artesunate in two kinds of hepatoma cells (Huh7, SMMC-7721) for 24 h. The data was preprocessed by Postrun Analysis 4.41 workstation. Partial least squares-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) was used to analyze two sets of differential metabolites and to analyze metabolic pathways of differential metabolites based on MetaboAnalyst 3.0 software. Result: Compared with the normal group, after two kinds of liver cancer cells was treated by artesunate, a total of 39 identical metabolites in the cells have undergone significant changes, which were mainly related to five metabolic pathways, including biosynthesis of aminoacyl-transfer RNA (tRNA), metabolism of alanine, aspartic acid and glutamic acid, metabolism of glycine, serine and threonine, metabolism of arginine and proline, metabolism of glutathione. Conclusion: Artesunate (12.5-100 μmol·L-1) can inhibit the growth of liver cancer cells (Huh7, SMMC-7721), it mainly involves five metabolic pathways, which may be the pathway of artesunate against liver cancer.
